Usually, when I tell people that I’m headed to Ischia, I get a quizzical smile and a “Ah, wait, where is that?” , though admittedly there are a few who respond with an excited “Awww, you’re so lucky!” Ischia used to be Capri’s sleepy little sorella, the best kept secret of an island off the coast of Naples. But lately, the isola has begun to make a name for itself. This hidden gem is my idea of the best vacanza Italiana.
The volcanic island in the Tyrrhenian Sea is known for its lush landscapes, thermal springs and rich history, offering a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage. After countless visits, including recently leading a weeklong Eat, Pray, Move yoga retreat there this past May and visiting a dear American friend for a few nights earlier this month, I’m sharing Erica's and my favorite spots in Ischia, along with some helpful intel and suggestions to making the most of your island holiday.
